I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has experimented using avfp with MySQL?  I've used it successfully in another project and it seems to work very well.

It would be cool also if COM+ wasn't needed but I'm not sure if that's possible if the db is on another machine..  There's also sort of a similarity between ActiveVFP and PHP as well surprisingly enough.  I think it's the simplicity of using it...

Not at the moment, but will love to test aVFP using other database if time permits. So COM+ is not needed if the database is stored on the same server using MySQL?

Well that's a good point - if on the same machine, I wonder if you even need COM+ for MS SQL??  COM+ is needed only for impersonation for security purposes usually needed for across-the-network access even for DBFs.  If MySQl or MS-SQl is local then maybe not...
