My default.aspx and default.asp were not uploaded when I tried to upload files for testing at a Godaddy site. Any work-around?

I loaded both of those files to Godaddy today so I can confirm that Godaddy accepts them.

Of course, I loaded them via an FTP program.   Not sure if that makes a difference.

yes, those files need to go the directory on Godaddy.  And yes they do accept them.
