Community Appery account with EC2 as well

I am setting up a sharable EC2 ip address to be used by all via static IP
its gonna run Activevfp as well as be talked to by a community Appery.io account
good for 60 days with very few restrictions.

Claude I need an email address & password we are gonna use and the plan is to set up everything and eventually publish the EC2 Ami to all. Just make up a new gmail or activevfp account just for this is my suggestion. I can do it as well.

Thoughts?

Sounds good. I already signed up for the AWS Free Tier for 1 year and had planned on spending this week concentrating on AWS anyway.

Go ahead and sign up and let me know exactly what you need from me. I'm psyched this is going to be a cool new thing for the VFP community!!

Ok, we have an IP address for the new server. I want everybody to help. This is the ip
54.215.18.104 (email me at mikegps1@gmail.com) if you plan on helping and want the password.

all that I ask is you keep track of what you do and let us know.

Instance is 32 bit Windows Server 2008 Micro.

We need
  1. simple usernames and passwords
  2. basic security set up
  3. activevfp installed
  4. agree on a folder where code will be put
  5. iis installed
  6. simple blogging or a way to tell others what we are doing.
there will be an appery.io account (MOBILE) hooked to this ip.. with examples up there as well

I'm going to do the Mobile side with examples. I want to stay away from a lot of the above to save time.

The site will be live for 2 months (maybe longer) The appery account will be PUBLIC for all to get into and have
very few restrictions.

Spent some time on the server, installed IIS, having problems installing the activevfp demo. I installed it, but it doesn't run.
Going to let Claude finish up this part unless I get another burst of inspiration.

normal user logins are

user1 through user4 with 'user1a' and user2a... etc ) as passwords.

I've never installed it on a real server.

Well, I don't think you even installed the IIS properly. If I typed in 54.215.18.104 in my browser, I should be able to see at least the IIS welcome page.

Second, those userX that you have created doesn't have Remote Login access.

Yes, the first step should be to make sure IIS is accessible to the outside world. Then we'd know that part is ok.

I might have some time later today to take a look at this.

Have at it.
Here is the Admin password.

WE can change it soon ... after we at least get out of the starting gate.

I got some things set up, but haven't had time to set up everything.

there is a group.

have a look.;

Ok, the demo is working at Amazon EC2:

The virtual directory I created is /avfp.

The demo link is: http://54.215.18.104/avfp/default.avfp

and here is the GetEmployees example:

http://54.215.18.104/avfp/customers/getemployees

This http://54.215.18.104/avfp/customers/info

will give you the folder where the controller is. Either create another Controller there or edit the Customers Controller.

The appery.io account has been set up, my current problem is it remembers who I am, so I had to
use a virtual machine to login. If somebody can figure out how to get rid of the cookies
related to the site, I can login and work (UNRELATED) to my other account.

joe100a@hotmail.com activevfp I want to try and get Max Katz involved. @maxkatz who works for Appery
or somebody else on their team. Get them to follow this thread.

More soon.

There is a folder called c:\data and inside it I have c:\data\mike

This is where I plan on putting files related to me.

Feel free to add your own

c:\data\yourname

Claude can chime in if he has another idea or plan.

Rest services in Appery have the following

method
get, post, put, patch, delete

Data types are
json
jsonp

xml

Can I SEND data using Rest with the same exact call function call
or do I need a completely different one.

Meaning I am using get right now, can I use POST with the same
activevfp function?

POST should work fine.

Here's the REST implementation in AVFP (from: https://activevfp.codeplex.com/SourceControl/latest#avfp6.03_source/prg/resthelper.prg ):
 DO CASE
    CASE cVerb == "GET" AND oParams.Count = 1 AND LOWER(oParams.Item[1]) == "info"
         cAction = "infoAction"

    CASE cVerb == "GET" AND oParams.Count = 1 AND LOWER(oParams.Item[1]) == "help"
         cAction = "helpAction"

    CASE cVerb == "GET" AND oParams.Count = 0
         cAction = "listAction"

    CASE cVerb == "GET" AND oParams.Count > 0 AND !(ISALPHA(oParams.Item[1]))
         cAction = "getAction"

    CASE cVerb == "POST" AND oParams.Count = 0
         cAction = "addAction"

    CASE cVerb == "POST" AND oParams.Count > 0
         cAction = "updAction"

    CASE cVerb == "DELETE" AND oParams.Count = 0
         cAction = "zapAction"

    CASE cVerb == "DELETE" AND oPArams.Count > 0
         cAction = "dropAction"

    OTHERWISE
         cAction = oParams.Item[1]    &&"customAction"
 ENDCASE
